Valencia HS Library

Linking students and staff to books and the world

I have been reading a lot this summer, but when I think back it is hard to really remember any of it. I hope it isn't a sign of old age (LOL). Some books that have stood out for me include: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Sickened: a memoir, Get Well Soon, Tips on Having a Gay (ex) Boyfriend, and Freak Show by James St. James was a treat. The biggest disappointment was Gail Giles' newest release, Right Behind You. After reading Shattering Glass, What Happened to Cass McBride?, and Playing in Traffic this one was below her usual page-turning excellence.

It is not that I didn't like it at all, it is just that it is just such a huge departure from her usual stuff and I was EXPECTING something different (which is my problem). I shouldn't have expected a specific thing. It was a good story.

I loved the book, Right Behind You. I thought the author captured the personality of Kip in this meetings with the psychologists brilliantly. Kip was a tortured soul with a misunderstanding of his family life. I love the way Giles built his trust by adding the characters at the lake. I can't remember their names, but the girl and her dad. I loved it.
